If you run a yoga studio, dog daycare, golf simulator, nail salon, or any other service business that relies on repeat visits, you've probably thought about selling prepaid passes. Maybe you saw a competitor doing it. Maybe a customer asked if you offered packages. Maybe you just did the math and realized that a customer who's pre-paid for ten visits is worth more than one who pays one visit at a time.

And then you looked into it. Maybe you saw platforms that required a monthly fee plus a per-transaction cut of your sales. Maybe you saw software that took days to set up and required staff training. Maybe you just couldn't figure out how your customers would access their passes without downloading yet another app they'd never use.

So you shelved it. And you kept taking drop-in payments one at a time.

Here's the thing: it doesn't have to be that complicated. Here's exactly what it takes.

What you actually need to sell passes

Strip away the complexity and selling prepaid visit passes requires four things:

That's it. Everything else is noise.

LoyalTrak handles all four in one place, starting at $19/month — with no percentage taken from your pass sales. Every dollar your customers pay goes directly to you.

The setup — step by step

1

Create your account and connect Stripe

Sign up, connect your Stripe account (if you don't have one, creating it takes about 5 minutes), and your payment infrastructure is ready. Money from pass sales goes directly to your bank account — LoyalTrak never touches it.

~10 minutes
2

Create your first pass type

Give it a name, set a price, choose how many credits it includes and how long it's valid. That's the whole form. One minute, maybe two if you're deciding between 10 visits and 12.

3

Share your shop link or QR code

You get a branded online store at loyaltrak.com/shop/your-business. Print the QR code for your front desk, add the link to your Instagram bio, text it to your regulars. Customers tap it, pick a pass, pay — done. Their pass link and QR code arrive by email immediately.

Check in customers at the door

Customer shows their QR code on their phone. You or your staff tap to scan on any device — phone, tablet, laptop. One tap deducts a credit and logs the visit. No app for the customer. No hardware for you.

What your customers experience

This is the part that surprises most business owners when they first set it up: your customers don't need to do anything complicated.

No app to download. No account password to remember. No friction between buying a pass and using it.

Common reasons businesses put this off — answered

"I don't have time to set up complicated software."

You don't need to. The whole setup — account, Stripe connection, first pass type, shop page live — takes about 30 minutes. Creating additional pass types takes one minute each. There's no staff training required because check-in is a single tap.

"My customers won't download another app."

They don't have to. Customers get a link by email. They open it in their browser — any browser, any phone. No download, no account, no friction. The QR code works the same way Apple Pay receipts and airline boarding passes work: it just opens on their phone.

"I don't want to pay a percentage of every sale."

LoyalTrak charges a flat monthly fee — $19/month for Starter, $49/month for Pro. Zero percentage of your pass sales. A business selling $5,000 in passes a month pays the same $19 as one selling $500. Stripe charges its standard processing fee (typically 2.9% + 30¢), which is unavoidable for any online payment — but that's Stripe's fee, not ours.

"What if a customer's phone dies or they lose their link?"

Staff can look up any customer by name, email, or phone number on the redemption screen and manually log the visit. The pass link is also resendable from the customer's record in your dashboard. No visit gets lost.

"I take cash payments too — what about those customers?"

You can issue passes manually from your dashboard for any payment method — cash, check, Venmo, whatever you collect. The customer still gets their pass link and QR code by email. You just mark it as a manual payment instead of online. No transaction goes through Stripe, and you note how you collected it.

"I've been meaning to do this for months."

We know. That's exactly why we built LoyalTrak the way we did — to remove every reason to keep putting it off. Thirty minutes from now, you could have a live pass store, a shareable QR code, and a way to start selling passes to the customer who walks in today.

What happens after you launch

The first few weeks after adding passes typically look like this: your most loyal regulars buy first (they've been waiting for this). Then word spreads — a customer mentions the pass to a friend who asks about it at their next visit. You start seeing names you recognize buying online before they even arrive.

Within a month or two, you'll have a clear picture of which pass type is most popular, who your highest-value regulars are, and who's running low on credits (the dashboard shows you this, and you can set low-balance alerts). Those are the conversations and touchpoints that turn occasional visitors into committed regulars.

Stop meaning to do this. Start now.

30 minutes to setup. No developer, no app, no percentage of your sales. Just a simple way to sell passes and keep customers coming back.
